Honda Announces First Vehicle with HD Radio Audio and Data Services
Coming off of the recent announcements at the 2013 LA Auto Show, Honda announced that the 2014 Honda Civic will be their first vehicle offering HD Radio delivered audio and subscription-free real-time traffic services. Honda selected HD Radio Technology, HERE, and the Broadcast Traffic Consortium (BTC) to provide the real-time traffic services.
The 2014 Honda Civic navigation system will include HD Radio Technology’s latest audio features that includes Artist Experience®, the ability for listeners to view cover art from their favorite artists and station logos from their favorite stations. Among Artist Experience®, the navigation system will also include HD Radio’s iTunes® Tagging, HD2/HD3, Digital Sound, and Program Info features - all delivered over-the-air from broadcasters at no additional costs to listeners.
In addition to the above audio features, the 2014 Honda Civic navigation system will include HD Radio’s subscription-free real-time traffic feature. This feature allows users to view a color-coded map that highlights flow patterns, view construction alerts, and find local traffic incidents. These traffic updates are delivered by local HD Radio stations across the country that participate in the BTC.
