Custom Commercials to run on 13 radio stations
LOS ANGELES – May 15, 2006 – With consumer adoption and demand continuing to grow for HD Digital Radio™, Los Angeles electronics retailer Ken Crane will offer HD Digital Radio products in its stores and launch online and print advertising and marketing campaigns beginning today, according to the HD Digital Radio Alliance.
Ken Crane’s HD Digital Radio campaign will consist of custom-made commercials running on 13 Alliance member radio stations, Spanish-language versions of marketing and advertising, in-store and online instruction to assist customers, extensive staff training and in-store and point-of-purchase marketing. The program is similar to those launched by ABC Warehouse, Tweeter and Crutchfield.com last month.
“HD Digital Radio is continuing to have a lasting impact not only on the radio industry but on consumers,” said Peter Ferrara, president and C.E.O. of the HD Digital Radio Alliance. “Retailers, both locally and nationally, know that consumers want HD Digital Radio and are taking the necessary steps to get these units into their hands.”
Ken Crane’s HD Digital Radio marketing campaign will feature print and on-air promotions, including advertising with the Los Angeles Times as well as on AM and FM radio. The campaign will highlight the Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio® HD’s availability in Ken Crane stores.
“We have been in business for over 57 years and have evolved with technology,“ said Casey Crane, C.E.O. of Ken Crane. “Bringing HD Digital Radio to our stores and helping lead the HD Digital Radio revolution is another way that we are embracing today’s technology while continuing to satisfy our customers.”
The campaign put forth by Ken Cranes is part of the HD Digital Radio Alliance’s $200 million, on-air advertising campaign which was announced in December of last year. The Alliance recently announced its second wave of HD2 multicast channels in 22 markets, bringing its total number of markets to 50.
The HD Digital Radio Alliance is a joint initiative of leading radio broadcasters to accelerate the successful rollout of HD Digital Radio. Current members include ABC Radio (in Los Angeles and Minneapolis), Beasley Broadcast Group, Bonneville International, CBS Radio, Citadel Broadcasting, Clear Channel Radio, Cumulus, Emmis Communications, Entercom, Greater Media, and Susquehanna.
